ABOUT

Newton Educational Workshops is a student-run club at Newton South High School in which high school students volunteer to teach fourth and fifth graders classes for five Saturdays.

N.E.W is a program for the 4th and 5th graders in the Newton Public Schools who will attend Newton South. For over three decades, South students have run this nonprofit organization, of which all proceeds go to charity.

For five Saturday mornings, children have the opportunity to take fun and exciting class taught by dedicated high school students. Children sign up for two periods and participate in a middle period, a time when the teachers and students gather together to get to know each other through group games and projects.

N.E.W is a great way to learn, make new friends, and have a blast!

Our Charity of the Year!

Every year N.E.W. donates all proceeds to a local charity. This year, we will be contributing to the Newton Food Pantry.

The oldest and largest food pantry in Newton, the Newton Food Pantry has been independently run exclusively by volunteers since 1983.

Each month they provide a five-day supply of nutritionally balanced free food and personal care products to approximately 750 Newton residents who cannot afford enough to eat.

In addition to offering food at their location in the basement of Newton City Hall, Newton Food Pantry also delivers food to more than 45 households where homebound elderly or disabled residents live.

Newton Food Pantry receives no direct funding from any level of government, so donations like the ones from Newton Educational Workshops are a major part in the support for the organization.
